Spontaneous Zine Making

Jan 6th 10am-2pm
Call 207-664-0222 to sign up!
Pricing 18 years or younger $15, 18 years or older $25

Join Emma Charlotte for Spontaneous Zine Making!!!

This workshop will cover a brief crash course on the history of zinemaking, a demo on common forms: the x-foldaccordion, and pamphlet, as well as a creative prompt to design and complete your own “spontaneous” zine. Zines are a constantly evolving, inherently community-oriented art form with punk, queer, and fandom roots. There is no barrier to self-publish – If you have a pen, paper, and ideas you want to share, you could be a zinemaker!

Bonefolders, x-acto knives, cutting boards, and blank copy paper will be provided, but participants are
encouraged to bring any personal art supplies such as colored pencils, markers, stickers, stamps, and collage material to make your zine stand out.
Light refreshments will be provided but you are encouraged bring a bag lunch.

Emma has a goal for the Ellsworth community to create a Zine Library for our town. We hope that this workshop kicks off your inspiration to add to this concept! Visit Emma’s website at: https://www.emmacharlotte.art

This experience allows you to work with hot glass up close, while staying on the cool end of the glassblowing equipment.  By its very nature, making an ornament happens quickly but it is so memorable and dramatic! Applying color to hot glass, heating it up and blowing it all happen in about 20 minutes! This is  the perfect introduction to how hot glass works. After your ornament blowing is completed  the ornament needs to be placed in a kiln to cool down and anneal (destress) overnight.

We hope to see you there! Happy Holiday season to everyone.

The Return of the Fire Gathering! 12/16/23

10am-6pm: The 14th Annual FireGathering!!!

Glass blowing! Blacksmithing, Artisan Demonstrations! Chestnuts Over the Open Fire and a Holiday Marketplace!

Artsworth and our neighbor Atlantic Art Glass,  are so happy to invite you to a big ol’ community celebration on Saturday, December 16th. All day, the community will gather around the heat of the creative fires, alive with creativity and friendship, and we hope you will join us. Bring a Pot luck snack offering to share through out the day and get a grab bag gift-(while supplies last). Let’s get together on  one of the shortest, darkest days of our year, and let this Fireathering encourage us all to share our light and welcome in the Winter season.

At 25 Pine St., Ellsworth, ME we will be doing what we love in the studio – blowing glass, blacksmithing, casting, enameling, and having fun with you. This open studio event is our way of saying “Hey neighbors! Let’s have fun while enjoying community and creativity together as we beat back the cold and dark of approaching winter.” Let’s take some time to visit, reconnect, meet some new friends, tell summer stories, and share winter plans.  In our brick warehouse, we are hosting a marketplace featuring work by local artisans. It is a great opportunity  to get last minute Holiday gifts for loved ones (or for yourself)!

A community-made blown glass art piece will be made at sunset by Linda Perrin of Atlantic Art Glass, and we hope you love being a part of its creation.

This event is free and open to all!
