Learning and experiencing art is what we at Artsworth do. By providing unique workshops to our community members, whether they are children, teenagers, or adults, we are able to open the doors to creativity and show all who wish to learn about the beauty of crafting high quality work with your hands and heart. Workshops are held at 25 Pine Street and range from learning about how to manipulate molten glass to how to solder metal to how to sculpt out of clay or fiber. Our goal is to remain open to suggestions and ideas of how to meet the interests and needs of our community by providing a space for all teachers to share their craft with students of all ages. We hope that if you have a great idea that you wish to share with others, that you will come to Artsworth, share our space and share with us.     Colored Pencil Techniques with Richard Huck

    This short workshop will cover the basic colored pencil techniques of layering and coloration. Along with these, I will discuss various aspects of the creative process. Attendees should bring along papers or sketchbooks, colored pencils and other drawing materials that you feel are necessary. If you wish to bring along subject matter to draw from that is encouraged. Be prepared to have a fun time while learning more about the use of the colored pencil. An open mind and humor are prerequisites! No clown costumes please!! 🙂

    Richard Huck Graduated from Millersville University, Millersville, PA with a BS degree in Art Education. He taught for many years on the high school level at Ephrata High School, Ephrata, PA and is now retired and lives in Northeast Harbor, Maine. 
    He has exhibited both nationally as well as internationally over the years with solo exhibitions in New York City, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, Philadelphia and Lancaster, PA,  Paris and Amsterdam. Group exhibitions include those cities along with Australia, Washington, DC and Japan.

    Over the years he has won numerous awards regionally and nationally including the Best in Show with the Colored Pencil Society of America. His works have been published in both books and magazines including the Society of Illustrators, Art in America, Outstanding American Illustrators (published in Japan) and the Best of Colored Pencil book series.
    Beyond working in colored pencil he, also, enjoys working in graphite, mixed media along with
    photography, painting and various forms of sculpture.

    I am a realist at heart, yet over time I found that it needed further exploration. I let the real
    world act as a catalyst for deeper and more playful thought. My work portrays this thinking.

    I enjoy pursuing various avenues of creative thought and although drawing mediums are by
    far my passion, I am not locked into that alone. I enjoy photography, sculpture and painting
    as well. The subjects that I explore are familiar with an emphasis on the mechanical, nature
    in all of its forms and the underwater realm. I will alter and extend them as to bring the
    viewer closer to the unexpected.
