Aided by pre-drawn compositions, participants can focus on painting with watercolor; no drawing skills necessary. You will leave this workshop with a watercolor
composition and the skills to begin painting at home!Artist statement: Grace Otzwirk (she/her) often focuses on using paintings, drawings, and relief prints to express her emotions, thoughts, and observations. Born in rural Illinois, the inspiration of; open skies, changing seasons, a conservative upbringing, folklore and fairytales, garden details, agricultural architecture, observations of being a cis woman, friendships, and pain, are constant in her mind when she is making. Her drawings and prints are tighter, fine lined works with thoughtful and researched subjects. Her paintings are often experimental and playful, allowing her to pull away from a stricter process and be surprised by the outcome.

February 21/22 10am-1:30 this is a 2-day workshop (due to firing time), Cost is $180/person please email Artsworthstudios@gmail.com to reserve your participation in the class. Metal clay is a clay-like substance composed of powered metal in an organic binder. When fired the organic binder burns off leaving pure metal. It is fun and easy to work with.
We will use a sterling silver clay (EZ .960) which has a low shrinkage rate and a longer working time. It takes textures well and can be finished with a high (tumbled) shine or a variety of patina effects. Included is a metal clay packet containing 25 grams (silver weight) of clay which is enough to make several pairs of earrings or pendants, depending on size. (I will have extra metal clay for purchase at current market prices.) Also feel free to bring any jewelry hardware you have like jump rings, ear wires or chains to finish you pieces but we will also have extra findings for purchase.
Please bring a notebook/sketchbook, pencil, ideas and curiosity. If you have something you would like to use as a texture please bring that. (lace, leaves, textured wood or paper, etc.) A light lunch of heart warming soup with bread and cheese will be provided, pls bring snacks you have special dietary needs.
